Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Se estou enviando um tipo documental que se confere por duplas, garanto que as instruções em “Garantindo uma análise de conteúdo confidencial” foram seguidas.

  • Authors must accept and sight the Statement of Originality (we suggest to open the link in a new tab and download the file). This document must be uploaded with the paper submission. Find the option “Statement of Originality” when uploading.
  • I have completed the “Author Contributions (CRediT)” document, which specifies the roles fulfilled by each author in the development of the manuscript, in accordance with the CRediT taxonomy and editorial policies. (We recommend opening the link in a new tab and downloading the file).
  • I have completed the “Responsibility and Transparency Document”, which includes statements on acknowledgements, funding, conflicts of interest, ethical approval, informed consent, AI use, and data availability, following editorial policies. (We recommend opening the link in a new tab and downloading the file).

Author Guidelines

Author Contribution Statement according to CRediT

According to the authorship declaration policy outlined in the “About the Journal” section, we remind you that we use the CRediT taxonomy for authors to declare in advance their contributions and roles in the production of the manuscript being submitted.

This is done by completing the “Author Contributions (CRediT)” document, which is available in the submission preparation checklist and must be uploaded along with the submission files.

Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Manuscript Preparation

The journal requires authors to disclose any use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools—particularly generative models such as ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), Copilot (Microsoft), or similar systems—during the conceptualization, writing, data analysis, or information processing stages of their manuscripts. This applies to all types of submissions and must be clearly stated in the “AI Disclosure” section, which is part of the documents required for submission.

Specific Guidelines:

  • Disclosure: If any generative AI tool was used, its name and specific purpose in the manuscript must be stated.
  • Human responsibility: AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Full responsibility for the content lies solely with the individuals signing the article.
  • Review and verification: Authors must carefully review AI-generated content to ensure accuracy, avoid bias, and preserve the originality of the text.
  • Ethical transparency: The use of AI does not exempt authors from scientific integrity standards. Practices such as plagiarism, fabrication of sources or results, and unacknowledged use of third-party ideas must be strictly avoided.

Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in rejection of the manuscript after due correspondence.
